Crowne Plaza Melbourne is embarking on an exciting transformation, evolving into InterContinental Melbourne Riverfront and bringing a new era of luxury hospitality to the city. This significant investment will enhance guest rooms, public spaces, dining venues, arrival experience, and meeting facilities, creating an elevated experience for future guests.

Yes. Crowne Plaza Melbourne will remain open and welcoming guests throughout the project. During certain periods, there may be relocation or closure of hotel facilities, and guests with upcoming bookings will be notified of these updates where possible. Renovation works will be carefully staged to minimise disruption while maintaining the high standards of service, comfort and hospitality our guests expect.

The transformation will introduce beautifully renovated guestrooms, enhanced public spaces, refreshed dining experiences, upgraded meeting and event facilities, and a redesigned arrival experience. Upon completion, guests can look forward to enjoying the luxury and sophistication of an InterContinental hotel.

The transformation will commence from November 2026, with works taking place in stages through 2027. Different areas of the hotel will be completed at different times, with the opening of InterContinental planned mid 2027, with full facilities including Eliva Spa, Club InterContinental and Rooftop Restaurant due for completion in late 2027/early 2028.

Yes. Guest safety remains our highest priority. All renovation works are being conducted in accordance with strict safety requirements, with construction zones securely isolated from guest areas.

Our guests’ comfort and experience remains a top priority and refurbishment works will take place in carefully planned stages.

Guestroom works are scheduled between 8:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays). While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, some intermittent construction-related noise may be experienced during these times.

Our team will continue to proactively manage the project to ensure guests enjoy a comfortable and memorable stay.

Valid gift certificates will continue to be accepted during the transformation. If your certificate is nearing expiry or you have specific concerns about using it during the renovation period, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to discuss available options.
