The 40th Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The 40th Melbourne International Comedy Festival has officially arrived — and this year’s milestone celebration is bigger, bolder, and funnier than ever!

As one of the world’s largest and most iconic comedy festivals, the MICF has been lighting up Melbourne every autumn since 1987. What began as a modest gathering of local comedians has grown into a global cultural phenomenon, now recognised as the biggest dedicated comedy festival on the planet.

This 40th anniversary edition brings an extraordinary program to the city, with almost 800 shows across more than 130 venues, featuring over 2,000 performers from Australia and around the world. From stand‑up and sketch to cabaret, improv, circus, and everything in between, the festival transforms Melbourne into a month‑long celebration of creativity, laughter, and shared joy.
